Pēteris Kampenuss (also Peteris Kampenus; December 24, 1917, Vaidava, Kocēni municipality, Latvia – September 19, 1993, Riga, Latvia) was a Latvian chess player.

Chess career

Pēteris Kampenuss father taught him how to play chess and already at the age of 17 he won the Valmiera championship. After World War II he has been a steady participant in Latvian Chess Championship finals. In 1959 Pēteris Kampenuss reached the greatest success in own career and divided first place in this tournament with Kārlis Klāsups but lost additional match - 2:3.[1] Pēteris Kampenuss played for Latvian team "Daugava":[2]
